How I Shop Consignment
When I first started building my business, I wanted to look the part. I wanted to have these nice clothes and designer brands so that the people I was pitching my business opportunity to, would take me seriously, but I didn't have the money to go out and get these nice high-end things. So what did I do? I started consigning my clothes. I started making extra cash from the clothes that were just sitting unworn in my closet.
With the world constantly evolving and becoming more online, I've found that now I have consignment stores right in the palm of my hand with apps such as Poshmark. It is so easy to just snap a few pics and then share the listing on social media. You can do it late at night, or time block out a few hours but overall its a quick and easy side hustle. As a customer, it's even easier to buy things. (although nothing beats an in-person shopping day every once an awhile. )
Now while I do love a good side hustle, the part I love the most about Poshmark and other online consignment markets is the deals you can get. One of my favorite deals I've gotten recently was on these Tony Bianco shoes that were sold out everywhere. So I sat down typed in the name, style, and size and I found them! I got them for half the price and they were BRAND NEW! And that's just one thing I've gotten a deal on. A lot of my blazers and shoes are vintage consignment. I think most of my closet is consignment.
While getting started, like with anything in life, it can seem scary. But once you read the guidelines and post your first listing, it won’t seem as intimidating and it'll become easier over time. Like I always say: scared money, don't make money.
A tip I would give to anyone starting this side hustle is to take good quality pictures to really show off your product. Also once someone buys the item mail it out right away. A quick turn around time will keep them coming back. You can also use keywords such as the brand name, if it's a really good brand put it in the title of the listing. Mention the quality, words such as "like new" or "great condition." Also whatever is in trend right now, if neon is really in and your piece is neon put that in the listing. So many people look up the latest fashion trends on these apps.
